History

Singapore Youth for Climate Action (SYCA) was co-founded in 2015 by a group of youths just before the 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference, Conference Of Parties COP21 or CMP 11, that was held in Paris, France.

The initial motivation to form SYCA was because we saw a need for representation of Singaporean youth at the international climate change negotiations. We conducted training workshops to help individuals understand the UN processes, attend the COP and share their unique experiences with different stakeholders in Singapore.

Over the years, SYCA’s goals have broadened to provide a platform for Singaporean youths to engage in topics related to sustainable development and social inclusivity. We conduct workshops on climate awareness through talks in schools, outreach events, as well as focus group discussions. We have also continued to engage with various decision-makers to become a collective voice for youths in Singapore.

We hope to continually grow and demonstrate our impact through the various activities and engagements of our members.
